Friendly reminder: Foursquare check-ins are public

The GPS location-based Smartphone application/game Foursquare recently proclaimed 3 million users; that's awesome, but gives me a tinge of heartburn.

I'm not so sure that folks understand that "check-ins" broadcast to the Internet your EXACT location. And by default, you're name and photo are listed in the "Who's Here" roster for strangers to see. I can think of many situations that make this a not-so smart thing to do.

Worth the upgrade: Pandora One

Some lessons are best learned by failing miserably. This is certainly the case with me; today, I discovered that that every photo, file, document, video and bookmark on my Mac Book is gone forever. GONE. FOREVER.

I should have been backing up my files to an external hard drive. Like this one, which I just purchased this afternoon.

I get asked a lot about how Google works. My short answer: "math." I know what I'm trying to say, but I can't explain it correctly because I'm not really hip to math.
