Brights and stripes: Step out of your comfort zone in your own zip code

Issue:
April 2012

It's never been easier to shop your way through Nashville's neighborhoods to pull together your favorite trend. From casual to formal wear, handmade soaps and staionary, and all the accessories your heart desires, you really don't need to go much farther than the boutiques in your own neighborhood.

I headed out with creative director, Mackenzie Moore (who designed our new Stella Shops logo) on a mission to take on two of our favorite Spring/Summer runway trends - brights and colorblocking - and style it for real life. We shopped our way through six neighborhoods and Nashville's first mobile boutique, The Trunk, and couldn't believe the options we found. We combined items from 12 South, Cool Springs, East Nashville, Franklin, Green Hills and Hillsboro Village, but could've completed our looks just staying in any one of these neighborhoods. Shopping local is a breeze when you can stay close to home.

Colorblocking: When colorblocking, remember brights work well with other brights. Use a color wheel as your guide to picking colors that complement each other. Bright colors attract, and dark colors camouflage, so if you're trying to slim an area, wear the darker color there and pair with a bright.

The neighborhood boutiques could surprise you with innovative items which you won't find elsewhere. But online shops are the quickest mediums for buying branded items. I recently bought a pair of Levis jeans online, because there is not a single store in our neighborhood that sells branded items.

I love being well dressed, that's why I keep up with the latest fashion trends and follow sites like http://www.skydelldesign.com/ . I also like to stay true to my own style, and sometimes this might be considered "unfashionable" but usually it's not the clothes or the accessories, it's how you wear them.

Even though it's not my style I think you managed to get an interesting look and there are plenty of girls who can pull it off. Personally I like to watch out for cool items on http://www.buymerchant.com/catalog/Closeouts-20-1.html, it's manning how many deals you can get there.

I appreciate a lot this great and quality post! I love shopping and I use to do it very often. I've recently moved in a new house and I had to buy everything for furniture to accessories. I've bought a nice Lenco Rod oven from http://www.usweldingsupply.com/rod-ovens.html and some beautiful interior design accessories from a local boutique. There are a lot of boutiques in my area and you can find some great items there.

Her Well Being: Stories of Health, Survival, and Livin' It Up Her Style

A New Beginning
Childbirth is one of the most magical of life's experiences. And that's what Nashville's Lily Gillmor was hoping for, but what it turned into instead was an excruciatingly painful, life-altering ordeal. Gillmor had what she describes as a "regular" vaginal childbirth, but she experienced some tissue damage when her son was born.
