Brights and stripes: Step out of your comfort zone in your own zip code
It's never been easier to shop your way through Nashville's neighborhoods to pull together your favorite trend. From casual to formal wear, handmade soaps and staionary, and all the accessories your heart desires, you really don't need to go much farther than the boutiques in your own neighborhood.
I headed out with creative director, Mackenzie Moore (who designed our new Stella Shops logo) on a mission to take on two of our favorite Spring/Summer runway trends - brights and colorblocking - and style it for real life. We shopped our way through six neighborhoods and Nashville's first mobile boutique, The Trunk, and couldn't believe the options we found. We combined items from 12 South, Cool Springs, East Nashville, Franklin, Green Hills and Hillsboro Village, but could've completed our looks just staying in any one of these neighborhoods. Shopping local is a breeze when you can stay close to home.
Colorblocking: When colorblocking, remember brights work well with other brights. Use a color wheel as your guide to picking colors that complement each other. Bright colors attract, and dark colors camouflage, so if you're trying to slim an area, wear the darker color there and pair with a bright.

“I was putting up my Christmas tree when I got the phone call,” says Teri Johnson-Hiett, referring to the moment she found out she had breast cancer. It was right around Thanksgiving in 2005, eight short months after losing her mother at age 51 to the same disease. Teri was only 29.
