The oil spill is no laughing matter, but this video satire is another story. Reasonably safe for work (considering my supervisor sent me the link), but if your boss is not a fan of the strategically dropped F bomb, you might want to save it for the privacy of your own home. Still, I'd be shirking my Her Humor duties if I didn't share.
Enjoy!

icky icky possum tail

A: To prove to the possum it could actually be done.*
What is it with possums getting run over? Are they depressed? Drunk? Just plain stupid?Someone please explain. East Nashville's streets are littered with the heinous tiny-toothed creatures. And their tails! So thick and hard and pink and just ... TAILY. Ulghhh. It's more than I can bear. Seriously.

I can't decide if this article is funny or sad. Just give me a second ...

Okay, yes. To summarize: Four adults, some dressed in bee costumes, were found protesting outside of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, because they believe the words in the English language are too difficult to spell.

Yes, that's funny to me. The bee costumes broke the tie.

“Look what I brought home for the boys!” my husband said, as if this were the 1950s and we were the first family on our block to get a color TV.

I watched in horror as he wrestled an enormous and unwieldy sheet of plastic onto the coffee table, while the boys pranced excitedly around it.

This is the life of a teacher’s wife.

“We were getting rid of these old world maps … but they’re perfectly good …”

I first became acquainted with the Awkward Family Photos blog when a friend e-mailed to ask me if this was my husband. If you're a long-time fan and supporter of the AFP blog, congratulations are in order, because on May 23rd, the book Awkward Family Photos will debut at #3 on the New York Times bestseller list.

Flowers for mother's day
It's not that I don't like flowers. Flowers are pretty. They have petals. And colors.  They come in different shapes and sizes. Bees use them to make honey. Flowers are grand.

I just don't want someone to rip them out of the ground and give them to me as a present.

The Photoshop Disasters blog is always good for a few laughs. I've even been featured on the site myself, with my son Squid Boy. But this goes beyond a Photoshop Disaster. And way beyond creative license. This is outright stealing. And while I understand that this is a Her Humor post and not an Everything That Is Wrong With Advertising post ...

My Evening with David Sedaris

Fans packed the Ryman Auditorium Friday night for An Evening with David Sedaris--(Nashville being one stop along the way of Sedaris’s 36-day, 36-city tour). I was thrilled to see my favorite living writer for the first time, but I was nervous about the animals. Sedaris’s forthcoming book, “Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary”, due out in October, is not a new collection of essays, but rather a book of animal fables.
