Posted Monday, March 7th 2011 at 8:20pm

In this month's issue of HER, I write about the wonders of finding the right someone to help keep your house clean. For me, that 'right someone' is Phyllis Hill. She's a delightful human being and a great keeper o' the house.

Off-the-wall Wallpaper: Discover Given Campbell's Bold Designs...and More!

Posted Sunday, August 8th 2010 at 9:22am

I recently discovered Given Campbell’s eye-catching wallpaper designs.  Ya know that sound you hear when you pull back the tab on a cold can of Coca-Cola...that metallic pop followed by effervescent fizz?  Yeah, Given Campell's wallpaper is kinda like that.

Pillows are fluffy indulgences that can perk up a place.  I discovered a fun little online store called the PilloShop (see this blog's featured image) that inspired me to procure a parade of posh options in a variety of styles and price points. Peruse the pillows and enjoy!

Good On Bed: New Duvet Collection from West Elm

Home Decor in the 'Hood: Green Hills

Posted Thursday, January 21st 2010 at 11:40pm

I was so happy when Tuesday Morning opened in Green Hills last fall.  When it comes to home decor and random tscotckes to spruce up spaces, I've always found Tuesday Morning stores to be treasure troves.

Home Decor in the 'Hood: Hillsboro Village

Posted Sunday, January 10th 2010 at 4:26pm

Shopping for "uniques" in Hillsboro Village is always fun.  With mainstays Pangea and Fire Finch, I've never been at a loss for finding just the perfect housewarming gift or quirkily wonderful accessory to jazz up a tabletop.  When Retropolitan hit 21st Avenue last year, my personal shopping Trifecta for Hillsboro Village was complete.  Retropolitan is a hip shop full of fun, affordable options for design-it-herselfers.

In honor of "the neighborhood issue," I'm going to highlight a few 'hood-specific home decor shops for you throughout the month.  And today, I begin with a shop from my corner of Nashville: Nouveau Classics

I'll Tell Ya Whatcha Can Do With that Tissue Dispenser...

Posted Wednesday, December 30th 2009 at 2:51pm

Normally, I'm prone to purge.  However, in the spirit of frugality and environmentality (did I just invent a word?!) so common these days, I'm trying to be more resourceful.  When we emptied a tub o' Cool Whip on Christmas day, I kept and repurposed it to be a travel dog food bowl.  Go me!
