I've begun my "under covers" investigation for new bed linens.  After winter's hibernation, I think I'm gonna be ready for some fresh bed dressing by spring time.

I was so happy when Tuesday Morning opened in Green Hills last fall.  When it comes to home decor and random tscotckes to spruce up spaces, I've always found Tuesday Morning stores to be treasure troves. 

Shopping for "uniques" in Hillsboro Village is always fun.  With mainstays Pangea and Fire Finch, I've never been at a loss for finding just the perfect housewarming gift or quirkily wonderful accessory to jazz up a tabletop.  When Retropolitan hit 21st Avenue last year, my personal shopping Trifecta for Hillsboro Village was complete.  Retropolitan is a hip shop full of fun, affordable options for design-it-herselfers.

In honor of "the neighborhood issue," I'm going to highlight a few 'hood-specific home decor shops for you throughout the month.  And today, I begin with a shop from my corner of Nashville: Nouveau Classics. 

Normally, I'm prone to purge.  However, in the spirit of frugality and environmentality (did I just invent a word?!) so common these days, I'm trying to be more resourceful.  When we emptied a tub o' Cool Whip on Christmas day, I kept and repurposed it to be a travel dog food bowl.  Go me!

Here it is, ladies and gents!  Pantone Inc., the corporate proprietor of the definitive, universal color matching system, decrees Turquoise (specifically, 15-5519 TCX) is the hue that's in for Twenty-Ten. 

Still hoping to get Christmas cards out to all your friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances before Kringle shows up next week?  First of all, good luck with that! 

Secondly, don't have a card attack. The boxed greetings at stores are on sale now, though you might be picking through the slim selection that remain on store shelves.

Seriously---if you have a remodeling project, get your camera out now.  My pals at Mission Stone & Tile are looking for a great space to show off their new line of wall tile, Beveled Arabesque. 

You submit a photo showing the space you want to grace with the new tile, and if the panel of pros deem your room most worthy, you get the tile FREE plus a stipend to help with installation costs.  Of course, they'll then want to get some professional images of the installation for promotion purposes. In this case, bragging is totally allowable!

In this month's Home column "Shelf Indulgence," I'm 'on the case' to bring you some fresh thoughts on home shelving.  In the story, I make mention of The Custom Shoppe's Deville entertainment center.  Take a looksie at this photo that shows the sweet swivel action of the case.  On one side, it's a traditional bookcase; on the reverse side, it's the ideal containment for a flat panel TV.  It's as if James Bond and Martha Stewart joined forces to design this lovely piece of furniture.
