That Was Easy!
Let's be clear. This is NOT a promo for Dish Network. It IS a promo for oh-my-gosh-i-can't-believe-how-easy-life-is-sometimes! Last night, my husband alerted me to a new iPhone app by Dish Network, a satellite company we employ in our home. The app is free and touts remote DVR capabilities. Intrigued, I downloaded it.
Wrap it up!
Baboosh Body Exercise Wrap, a new exercise tool, tones the ever-so-difficult mid-section. Made out of nylon and neoprene, the wrap helps you sweat out the inches from your waist. The adjustable Velcro wrap comes in two sizes: small (up to 31 inches) and large (up to 44 inches). Visit Baboosh Baby for more info; available for $42.95. — Kelly Carter
Sun, Sun for Everyone!
Nashville may seem like the new Seattle lately, but it doesn't have to. Bring a little sun to the scene with the Sunlight 365 artificial sun machine (aka the perfect antedote for the winter blahs). It's portable and UV-free, making it safe to use. Keep it on your desk (perfect for window-free offices and cubicles) or take it with you when you travel. The blue LEDs simulate natural sunlight, which in turn gives your brain a boost.
See the Light(s)
Sometimes my most favorite things are free. Such is the case with this blog post. I'm a sucker for holiday lights. We load up the minivan and venture out to different parts of Nashville practically every night during the season to check out the light displays in different neighborhoods. However, until this past weekend, we had never explored Historic Germantown's display of seasonal excitement. Which is a shame. If you get some free time, make a point of checking it out.
Darken Up!
From now till Thanksgiving, Tanastacia Tan is offering a discount on their mobile tanning service. The "Tanastacia Thanksgiving Deal" is $25, and the best part? She comes to you!
Cancer Vixen: Now in Paperback
In case you missed Cancer Vixen by Marisa Acocella Marchetto (Pantheon) the first go around in 2006, the incredibly engaging and raw first-hand experience via comic strip is enjoying a resurgence, this time in paperback. The book is long — 212 pages to be exact — and in no time, you'll find yourself completely immersed. And late to your next appointment! (I lost about an hour, but I gained so much more ...)
Time for a Change?
Feel good about looking even better when you where a Tees for Change tee. The line of SUPER soft tees and hoodies features simple designs that include inspirational phrases or graphics. AND, the entire company is eco-friendly to the max: shirts are made of organic cotton or a bamboo/cotton blend, and Tees for Change (along with Trees for the Future) plants one tree for EVERY purchase made. That's impressive! Order up at www.teesforchange.com.
Have Faith
I know I've mentioned it before, but Faithful Provisions is absolutely the most helpful, money-saving blog I've found. Headed up by local gal, Kelly Hancock, the blog literally walks you through how to match up coupons with what's on sale at local stores. The reason I'm moved to mention it yet again? Last night, at Publix, I spent $51. I saved $56.
What Ever Happened to Those Guys?
"America's Lost Band" is showing April 22 and 23 to wrap up the last two days of the Nashville Film Festival. This documentary tells the story of four boys from Boston who made their debut in 1966 playing gritty rock n roll. The Remains were breaking out, opening for the Beatles and performing on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Ben and Jerry are the Best!
It's April 21, which means free cone day at Ben and Jerry's. Today from 12 - 8 p.m. you can swing by Ben and Jerry's and get a free scoop o' ice cream on the house - it's their way of saying thanks for 31 years in the biz. I'm heading to the 21st Ave. shop after work...
