When my husband, Precious, and I married seven years ago, he chose a reading from Soren Kierkegaard for the wedding ceremony. I do not know from Kierkegaard. But this weekend as our anniversary nears, Precious and I will hear the Nashville Symphony perform the “Prayers of Kierkegaard.” Herein a quote from the nineteenth-century Danish philosopher-theologian: “Prayer is not hearing yourself talk, but being silent, staying silent,
and waiting until you hear God.”
That I can understand.

You are lucky to have found someone who appreciates Kierkegaard.
And I had no idea K. had gone symphonic. I will have to check that out.
My sister long ago advised me to marry someone smarter than I am, and I did. So I know I'm lucky that Precious knows folks like Kierkegaard. i often wish I knew more, but he educates me as best he can. I think the symphony deal is someone's interpretation/appreciation of Kierkegaard. I'll let you know after I hear it tonight!
