Are Moms Behind Odd Observances?
What are mothers supposed to make of this? June is both the “Candy Month” and “National Fruit and Vegetables Month.” To commemorate, should we give kids Runts?
Also, this week (June 27 – July 4) is “National Prevention of Eye Injuries Awareness.” I’m thinking moms -- mine included -- could’ve been behind this one. “Stop running in the house! You’re going to poke an eye out!” According to my mother, though, you could lose an eye with a slice of pizza if you weren’t careful!
(FYI: I just discovered that today, June 26, is “National Columnist Day,” so “Holla!” to the Her family of columnists.)
Childbirth is one of the most magical of life's experiences. And that's what Nashville's Lily Gillmor was hoping for, but what it turned into instead was an excruciatingly painful, life-altering ordeal. Gillmor had what she describes as a "regular" vaginal childbirth, but she experienced some tissue damage when her son was born.
