Are Moms Behind Odd Observances?
What are mothers supposed to make of this? June is both the “Candy Month” and “National Fruit and Vegetables Month.” To commemorate, should we give kids Runts?
Also, this week (June 27 – July 4) is “National Prevention of Eye Injuries Awareness.” I’m thinking moms -- mine included -- could’ve been behind this one. “Stop running in the house! You’re going to poke an eye out!” According to my mother, though, you could lose an eye with a slice of pizza if you weren’t careful!
(FYI: I just discovered that today, June 26, is “National Columnist Day,” so “Holla!” to the Her family of columnists.)
February is American Heart Month, a time to raise awareness for the leading cause of death in American women: heart disease. And perhaps no one will be sporting her red more proudly than 20-year-old Nashvillian Nykia Babb.
