I ran my first marathon on Saturday, finishing in what I thought was a respectable three hours and fifty-two minutes.
That evening, my husband and I went out to celebrate with my teammates and their spouses.
He asked the group who'd been spectating if they'd seen the girl doing cartwheels.
"You mean a spectator?" I asked. "Someone in the crowd?"
"No, she was racing," he said. "But she was doing cartwheels."
"Wow. I didn't see her," I said.
"She was ahead of you."
