I’m all for lively conversation and moving beyond small talk, but how do you respond when someone you don’t know very well, in casual conversation, describes herself as “a very sexual person”?
WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?
AND WHY DO YOU FEEL I NEED TO KNOW IT?
Believe it or not, this has happened to me several times. And I have yet to craft an appropriate cocktail-party protocol for responding to the Very Sexual Person.
If you have any ideas, let me know. So far I've got:
VSP: "I am a very sexual person."
Me: "Well isn’t that interesting. I’ve always been ARE THOSE FINGER SANDWICHES? Mmmmm. CUCUMBER."

This reminds me of the time someone with the Twitter name SexualElf started following me.
I blocked him. Because an elf is one thing, but a SexualElf is something else altogether. That has perv written all over it.
This person at the party wasn't really short with pointy ears, was he/she?
The latest sexual person was quite tall. Which is not to say you didn't do the right thing blocking SexualElf.
